Hello,
My name is Sherry Hillesheim and I appreciate the opportunity to share my biography with you. I have just moved back home to Richland Center, WI. I am a retired Air Force nurse and now enjoy wellness educating and consulting. With over 35 years of nursing experience (from nursing assistant to Chief Nurse Executive positions), I have much experience from which to draw. Prior to my retirement from the military, I found myself quite frustrated with the “sickness” world...especially regarding chronic disease conditions...were we helping people or doing further harm with our pharmaceutical and band-aid approach?
I began my “outside the box” exploration of other options. And, as I stepped away from the traditional allopathic world...my eyes were gradually opened! What an epiphany! Often times, the sickness world is truly not teaching the right information to help us in our quest for wellness. They are not into prevention I have concluded...just treatments...but it is not their fault...that is what they are taught by the pharmaceutical world...and they and the insurance companies (or managed care) are who run the sickness show.
Therefore, I am on a mission: to educate whomever I can educate on other options we all have for health improvement and maintenance. Let me empower you to take control of your health thereby attaining a much better quality of life.
Personal Life:
I have twin 22 year old sons (Fletcher and Christian) who are enrolled in college and working. We have an older son, Alex, who is 28 and is working in Graphic Design in Wisconsin.
I was raised on a dairy farm in Wisconsin and went to a one-room school for the first 4 years of my education. OK...that's all dating me. And yes, I am a devout cheese head and love the Packers.
Education:
- Bachelor in Nursing from Loretto Heights College, Denver, Colorado
- Masters in Counseling and Human Development, Troy State University
- Completed the Hilton Johnson Health Coaching course
Other Accomplishments:
- Attended Nursing Flight School & Hyperbaric Nursing Course
- Numerous military medals: Meritorious Service & Commendation
- Authored an article: “The Leader Meter” in Nursing Management, Mar, 1998
- Involved Episcopalian
- Hobbies include all kinds of needle work (i.e. knitting, crocheting, quilting)
- I love to work Sudoku puzzles :-)
